Thelonious Monk

Thelonious Monk (1917-1982) was an American pianist and composer, widely regarded as one of the most innovative figures in jazz. With a rhythmic, dissonant style, Monk developed a unique way of playing the piano, characterized by unexpected pauses, angular chords, and minimalist melodies.

He was one of the pioneers of bebop in the 1940s, but his music transcended this style, influencing generations of musicians. Among his most famous compositions are Round Midnight, Blue Monk, and Straight, No Chaser.

Although his music was initially misunderstood, Monk eventually became a jazz legend, leaving a legacy of creativity and originality that remains strong today.
