Clifford Brown

Clifford Brown (1930-1956) was an American trumpeter, considered one of the greatest jazz musicians in history, despite his short life. His virtuosity and technical ability placed him at the top of jazz in the 1950s, standing out for his clear tone and his ability to improvise with remarkable fluidity.

A member of Art Blakey's group and the Jazz Messengers, Brown was key in the evolution of hard bop, a more accessible and melodic style than bebop. Among his most influential recordings are Study in Brown and Clifford Brown and Max Roach.

Tragically, Brown died at the age of 25 in a traffic accident, but his legacy as a trumpeter and composer remains an essential reference for jazz musicians.
