Ron Carter
Ron Carter (1937- ) is an American double bassist and composer, widely recognized as one of the most influential musicians in modern jazz. With a career spanning more than six decades, Carter has played with a wide variety of artists, becoming a key figure in jazz music of the second half of the 20th century.
He is best known for his work with the Miles Davis Sextet, most notably on the celebrated album Miles Davis Quintet: Second Great Quintet, and has been a key part of iconic albums such as Kind of Blue. In addition to his work as a sideman, he has recorded numerous albums as a leader, exploring both traditional and contemporary jazz.
Carter has worked with artists from a variety of disciplines, including Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, and Tony Williams, and his signature elegant and precise style has left a profound mark on the evolution of the double bass in jazz.
