Louis Armstrong


Louis Armstrong (1901-1971) was an American trumpeter, singer, and composer, widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in the history of jazz. With his virtuosity on the trumpet and charisma as a vocalist, Armstrong transformed jazz from a collective style to a more individualistic one, focused on improvisation and personal expression.


Born in New Orleans, he began his career playing in local bands before joining Fletcher Henderson's famed band in New York. Throughout his career, he recorded iconic albums such as What a Wonderful World and La Vie en Rose, and left a musical legacy that spanned jazz, swing, and popular music.


In addition to his technical skill, his unique style and influence as a singer transformed jazz into a more emotional and accessible language. Armstrong remains one of the most beloved and revered figures in music history.
