John Coltrane

John Coltrane (1926-1967) was an American saxophonist and composer, widely regarded as one of the most revolutionary figures in jazz. With an intense, spiritual approach to music, he transformed the saxophone and expanded the boundaries of jazz.

Coltrane began his career in the bands of Dizzy Gillespie and Miles Davis, but his influence grew exponentially with his own quartet, creating masterpieces such as Giant Steps and A Love Supreme, a suite that reflects his quest for spiritual transcendence through jazz.

His exploration of modal jazz and experimental music broke new ground, and his legacy endures as an icon of music and spirituality in jazz.
