Herbie Hancock




Herbie Hancock (1940- ) is a pianist, composer and pioneer of jazz fusion. With a versatile style, he has explored modal jazz, funk, electronica and hip-hop, becoming one of the most innovative figures in the genre.


He began his career in Miles Davis' band in the 1960s, participating in key albums such as Miles Smiles and In a Silent Way. He then developed his own sound with records such as Maiden Voyage and Speak Like a Child.


In the 1970s, he revolutionized jazz with Head Hunters (1973), a jazz-funk album featuring the iconic track Chameleon. His exploration of electronic music continued with Future Shock (1983), which included the hit Rockit.


Throughout his career, he has won multiple Grammy Awards and remains active, fusing genres and expanding the boundaries of jazz.
