Django Reinhardt

Django Reinhardt (1910-1953) was a Belgian guitarist and composer of Gypsy origin, considered one of the most influential musicians in the history of jazz. He is especially known for being one of the pioneers of European jazz and for developing a unique style within Gypsy jazz, known as jazz manouche.

Despite losing the use of two fingers on his left hand due to an accident in his youth, Reinhardt managed to become a guitar virtuoso, creating a style characterized by innovative technique and a vibrant melodic sense. His work with the quartet Quatuor du Hot Club de France, together with violinist Stéphane Grappelli, marked the beginning of his international fame.

Among his best-known compositions are Minor Swing, Nuages and Djangology. Reinhardt's music fused the American jazz tradition with Gypsy music, creating a unique blend that continues to influence jazz and guitar musicians to this day.
