Cannonball Adderley
Cannonball Adderley (1928-1975) was an American alto saxophonist, known for his expressive style and ability to fuse traditional jazz with soul and blues influences.
He began his career in Miles Davis' band in the late 1950s, appearing on the iconic album Kind of Blue. His warm, energetic sound quickly brought him to prominence, and he later led his own group, where he recorded classics such as Mercy, Mercy, Mercy and Somethin' Else.
Adderley was a pioneer of hard bop, and his accessible style made him popular with both jazz fans and the wider public. His legacy remains a reference for saxophonists and jazz musicians.
