Bill Evans

Bill Evans (1929-1980) was an American pianist and composer, renowned for his lyrical and introspective style, which revolutionized harmony in jazz. His subtle approach and innovative use of chords profoundly influenced modern jazz piano.

He was part of Miles Davis' legendary sextet on Kind of Blue (1959), where he contributed his harmonic sensitivity. He then led his own trio with Scott LaFaro and Paul Motian, establishing a new interplay between musicians, as seen on Sunday at the Village Vanguard.

Throughout his career, he recorded iconic albums such as Waltz for Debby and You Must Believe in Spring. His legacy lives on in generations of pianists who follow his refined and expressive style.
